The last in a fabled line of otherworldly aristocracy, the Lords of Satyr are born to wealth, power, and a talent for sensual delight that mere mortals only dream of. He Had Sworn To Take A Proper Wife. He Hadn't Bargained On Meeting His Match . . . Nicholas looks very much like what he is-the handsome, successful heir to a vineyard in Tuscany. But Nicholas is much more, for he is one of the last in an ancient line of satyr men. And the dying king of ElseWorld wants him not only to marry, but to wed one of the king's own daughters-a half-human, half-faerie woman unaware of her heritage. Wow. This book actually had twists I didn't see coming, that in itself is unusual! Like other reviewers, I wish the story was more developed - this is easily 5 star worthy. I can't wait to pick up the books for the brothers.Nick is a Satyr - I gathered from reading that means he's a highly sexually charged beast. "Satyr" rang a few bells from an old mythology class, but until I Wiki'd it, I couldn't recall exactly the Satyr's role. I did Wiki it after reading the book though and now know there is quiet a bit more that could have been done from that angle. Instead of saying it is the satyr way, tell me what the heck the satyr way is!
I want to know more about Jane's Fye connection, just what exactly will those wings do for her? I can see her easy acceptance of being Fye, with the wings and all, but how could you easily accept the satyr way? Especially towards the end - musta been one hell of an elixir. I also wish the bond between Nick and Jane was stronger, I forget what word they used, but what I mean is her being "synced" to him, his feelings, his thoughts - if her Fye blood allows it, tell me more about Nick's thoughts during that last ritual.
i'm sure things played out the way they did so we can jump right into the brother books - which I will! And i'm sure a lot of the answers will come...

Nicholas The Lords of Satyr Elizabeth Amber Books Reviews
The Lords of Satyr series is not for everyone! The characters in this book series are mythical and the writing is very erotic! The author writes well and paints the characters quite vividly with interesting plots and very steamy sex! The book covers cannot be shown in public, though!
"Nicolas" was the first of the series and was so well written, that I ordered the rest of them. The later books in the series of seven were not as well written as the first three but once you've learned the characters, it's hard not to continue to the end!
When you read as much PNR as me, you start to get comfortable thinking that--unless you go looking for it--most books really don't attempt to shock you. Then arrives this little charmer. Very well written, great female and male leads--good brother books to follow. My complaint is the sensuality. Most of the time the "ick" factor is high and the rest of the book keeps up those images. Many of the scenes seem to be written to show sensuality at it's worst. We see ugly activites f/f. The brothers and their "Shimmerskins" partners are enough for a cringe. Even the "loving" relationship between Nic and his wife, while historically accurate in the arranged/distant/unemotional components is not happy reading. Overall, I thought "Nicholas" was well written, but very ugly and overwrought in sensuality.
I had my doubts about the sexiness of a satyr, the mythological half man half goat or horse. What a pleasant surprise. Although the book starts off describing three satyr brothers in the woods who eventually sprout animal-hairy legs and a second penis, the story was extremely sensual, sexy, and romantic. Set in early 1800's even the historical aspect is well told. The characters were engaging and the story, while certainly rooted entirely in fantasy, was convincing with a romance that developed at an even pace and built to a real love story by the end. In a book with a hero with two penises, it was remarkably absorbing and memorable. And the sexiness factor was blistering hot.
Recommend!
I read this about five years ago. Since then, every once in a while, one sex scene would come to mind, but I could not remember what book it was from. Recently I asked Smart Bitches Trashy Books for help. They have a section called Help A Bitch Out (HABO) asking their readers for answers. They figured it out right away. I was so pleased.
I don't know why that scene was so unforgettable, but here it is. Nicholas marries Jane. He believes a wife does not enjoy sex and should be used only for breeding. On their wedding night and subsequent nights he uses a cream to allow quick sex and then leaves her bed. When she discovers he is seeing other women, she offers to provide that service if he will instruct her. He agrees to try. He blindfolds her and ties her to a bed. He then pretends to be three different men with conversations about doing things to her. For example Signore Mosca would like to do this to you. Will you let him? That scene with pretend multiple men is what stuck in my head for five years and is why I rounded to 4 stars.
Nicholas is half human half satyr. On full moons his body grows a second appendage, which means both rear door and regular are being filled by him during sex. This book is full of sex, about 33 scenes. I found all of this interesting, but it wasn't the hottest. I want more emotional connection with sex, but this was ok. There is self pleasuring and group sex. There is one scene with several women pleasuring each other and raping a man. There is also incest.
Story wise it was interesting. It had decent plot. But it wasn't the most engaging. It could have used more conversation and relationship development.
